Where’s the Rage?

Yeesh, been a week since I wrote anything? Pathetic. So much for my plan to post more. And I’m gonna be busy this week writing up stuff for UB’s online championship series, which goes on all week. I actually played in one of the mini-UBOC events (they run mirror events with 10% of the buy-in) and I had a big stack approaching the money. Even collected a bounty on Shawn Rice, one of our players, so I was freerolling and feeling confident. That’s when I ran Ace-King into Aces, oops. Making things worse is that I made the nut flush on the river, but it wasn’t the “nut” flush as he’d flopped a full house. So that more than halved my stack and I maybe could’ve folded into the money but that’s not my style. Actually, that IS my style, but it was folded around to me on the button and I shoved with K-10. Chris “PiMaster” Vioxx made a terrible call with A-2–I should say that the call itself wasn’t terrible, it was just terrible for me–and when I didn’t catch I was out three from the money. Mark “P0ker H0” Kroon, one of our online pros, ended up winning the damn thing. Good for him. Really, I’m thrilled at his great success.

I was following along with our Heads-Up tournament last night but I surrendered and went to bed at 3:30. There were seven players left (three matches still going on) and they stacks were pretty deep. I started doing calculations and figured that there was no way this thing was gonna end before dawn. And when I woke this morning and ran to my computer the tournament lobby said the event took 15 hours and 54 minutes. So it ended around 8:30 in the morning. Jesus.

Anyway, two real reasons for this post beyond my poker whinings. The reason that I haven’t posted anything in a week is that I’ve been playing with my new copy of Lightroom 2 and, wow. Wowie wow wow. I cannot believe how cool this program is. And I cannot believe I thought some of my photos were actually decent before running them through Lightroom. The scales have fallen from my eyes, it’s a whole new world, blah blah blah. The bad thing is having to develop two years worth of photos again. Oh well. So I’ll be posting a lot of those pictures here as I experiment and try to get better at this shutterbug thing.

The other big news of the day is, of course, today’s Steelers-Chargers game. I wish I could say I’m confident, but I’m not. I think the Steelers are the better team, the Chargers are coming off a taxing win against Indy, and Tomlinson probably won’t be able to go. But I don’t think the weather will play a big role (it rarely does) and I’m worried that the guy wearing #7 is going to have one of those games where he buries the Steelers with three bad picks and a fumble. The fact that he’s coming back from a concussion does not fill me with confidence, no matter what he and Tomlin and the doctors say.

But we’ll see. Maybe once I put my jersey on and twirl my Terrible Towel that old familiar bloodlust will rise up and it’ll be like old times. But I got a bad feeling about today, maybe I’m just preparing myself for the worst.

No way it could go worse than it did for us Panthers fans yesterday. SHEESH. Delhomme’s performance was the best example I’ve ever seen of a football player going on tilt.
