Do You Know The Way To San Jose?

The Mean Gene Experience pulls up stakes again tomorrow as I head to Costa Rica for a week-long powwow with my UB overlords. Well, it won’t all be powwowwing–when I asked my boss how long I should stay he at first said, "as long as you like" and then narrowed it down to "at least give yourself time to spend a couple of days at the beach". This job is rather different from ones I’ve had in the past.

Of course, in light or recent events in the online poker world, including my little corner of it, this trip should be, ah, interesting. Of course there’s the Chinese proverb that says, "May you live in interesting times", which is actually more a curse than a proverb. And things have been interesting the last few months, the last few days. When I was in Aruba we had a lot of meetings where we discussed major changes coming to the site, most notably in customer service and improving the customer’s experience. Some of those changes have been implemented, some are still in the pipeline. I think this get-together (quite a few people besides myself are heading down) is intented to build on what we started. Should be, well, interesting.

So I came up with the title of this post and now I can’t get the song "Do You Know The Way To San Jose" out of my head. But not the Dionne Warwick version–no, I have the music from the Merry-Go-Round at Kennywood cluttering up my brain. Those of you who’ve ridden the MGR at Kennywood probably know what I mean, and know you’re dreading the thought of that calliope noise haunting you the rest of the day. I haven’t ridden the Merry-Go-Round there for, oh, 30 years, so I’m not sure if that song is still on the playlist. Bet you it is.

Hope you get at least a little “me” time in Costa-Rica, to unwind and enjoy. But since you’re down there workin’ for the man…bring back the scoop to your blog minions.

Make the drama-bomb on 2+2 go away. I’d like a reason to play at UB again.
