Our Glorious Leader

President Bush, speaking today about how Democrats don’t understand that we’re a nation at war, said the following:

"History teaches us that underestimating the words of evil, ambitious men is a terrible mistake," Bush said. "Bin Laden and his terrorist allies have made their intentions as clear as Lenin and Hitler before them. And the question is, will we listen?"

Here’s what President Bush had to say about Osama bin Laden back on March 13, 2002:

"So I don’t know where he is. You know, I just don’t spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you…I — I’ll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him."

I think that the invasion of Iraq (which, of course, had nothing to do with 9/11) and how that drew attention and resources away from fighting al-Qaeda and the Taliban proves quite conclusively that Mr. Bush underestimated the words of those evil, ambitious men. The fact that he is now asking, with a straight face, "will we listen" , is an act of unmitigated gall. Every time you think that the President couldn’t be any more clueless or blinkered than he’s shown in the past…he says something like this. And Congress won’t even mention the word "impeachment". There’s a saying that, in a democracy, the People get the government they deserve. What did we do to deserve THIS?

Enough of our country’s citizens voted for him – that’s why.

I wish it wasn’t so. And memories of that election night still leave me in awe. But too many people in this country can’t think for themselves and come to intelligent conclusions. It’s sad.
