The game was over and I sat on the couch sipping a celebratory beer. I never drink during big games–perhaps the most unfortunate of my superstitions. The Steelers had just beaten the hated Ravens to secure a spot in the Super Bowl. The goddam SUPER BOWL. Was I happy? Eh, kinda. I sure was happy…

I woke this morning with the sheets balled in my clenched fists. My throat was raw, as if I’d been screaming all night. I remembered the dream I just clawed free from, a swirling grotesque of shrieking and sobbing and pointless violence that I couldn’t stop. And once I realized I was powerless, I surrendered,…

Yeesh, been a week since I wrote anything? Pathetic. So much for my plan to post more. And I’m gonna be busy this week writing up stuff for UB’s online championship series, which goes on all week. I actually played in one of the mini-UBOC events (they run mirror events with 10% of the buy-in)…

I lost my fantasy football title game last night by two points and I still have the dry heaves. So many things went wrong to cost me the title, and if any of them go my way, I win. They didn’t, so I lost. Marques Colston finished with 99 yards receiving. If he gets one…

That’s how I feel watching Penn State dismantle Michigan State to win the Big Ten title. On top of that I just got to enjoy watching Syracuse–Syracuse–beat Notre Dame. In South Bend. The funniest part was when the Irish offense took the field and announcer Tom Hammond said, “Here comes Jimmy Clausen…this is a moment…

If you watched the Steelers-Bengals game tonight (or the Steeler-Charger game from this past Sunday) you saw some real football weather. Thermometer below freezing, wind howling, flurries filling the air. I can certainly appreciate picture-perfect warm weather (that’s about all Aruba has) but if I ever moved someplace warm I’d miss the bluster, the snowflakes…

The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the San Diego Chargers 11-10 yesterday–good. It was the first 11-10 game in NFL history–interesting. And hardly anyone is talking about either of those tidbits. That’s because the big story was the last play of the game, and what did (and didn’t) happen. The Chargers tried one of those Cal-vs-Stanford multi-lateral…

Some photos from volleyball the other night. It was pretty dark in the gym and the color of the light was a bit funky. Miss playing in a league. And the team photo. Remember, coming in second means that you’re the last to be called losers! Man, that was a really cheap shot. Not sure…

Had some computer issues today that were resolved (or resolved themselves) and so I couldn’t hack my way through all the volleyball pics from last night. But I did pick out my favorite one to post today: Rico gettin’ stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey. I really could’ve zoomed in a little more, cropped it tight…let’s…

So my friends wanted me to take pictures of their volleyball playoff game and I said sure. So I drive to Cranberry at 7pm and take some shots and, to my amazement, they win the match. I figure we’re off to the bar for drinks when they say, “No, we play again at 9 for…
