So I’ve been watching ESPN’s Super Bowl coverage for the past week and by far the biggest story so far has been Anquan Boldin’s shocking sideline sucker-punch and attempted strangulation of offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Never before has a coach been the subject of a such a violent felonious assault, and from one of his…

The game was over and I sat on the couch sipping a celebratory beer. I never drink during big games–perhaps the most unfortunate of my superstitions. The Steelers had just beaten the hated Ravens to secure a spot in the Super Bowl. The goddam SUPER BOWL. Was I happy? Eh, kinda. I sure was happy…

I woke this morning with the sheets balled in my clenched fists. My throat was raw, as if I’d been screaming all night. I remembered the dream I just clawed free from, a swirling grotesque of shrieking and sobbing and pointless violence that I couldn’t stop. And once I realized I was powerless, I surrendered,…

Yeesh, been a week since I wrote anything? Pathetic. So much for my plan to post more. And I’m gonna be busy this week writing up stuff for UB’s online championship series, which goes on all week. I actually played in one of the mini-UBOC events (they run mirror events with 10% of the buy-in)…

So I’m watching the Rose Bowl and not enjoying it much as USC scored at will against my Nittany Lions. The game was effectively over at halftime, and that’s when I noticed something odd. It seemed that the Penn State coaching staff had also come to that conclusion, and so had the ABC announcing staff….

Just a few pics for your amusement. Post tomorrow, promise. This is what my Monday nights usually look like. Volleyball for 2 hours, and then…beer. Hartwood Acres is one of the parks near my flat and around the holidays you can drive through and see the huge collection of light-festooned trees and models and whatnot….

This Sunday 60 Minutes will run it’s long-awaited story on the cheating that took place at UltimateBet and Absolute Poker (I write for UltimateBet, in case you didn’t know). The trailer to the piece is on the CBS website and begins thusly–"We should tell you that this $18 billion industry is illegal in the U.S."….

I saw this coming a mile away. Well, about a day away. Started getting a scratchy throat and when a cough drop and serious hydration didn’t do the trick, I knew I was toast. Got your basic cold, felt lousy all day, etc etc. A good day to stay indoors…except that I couldn’t, as I…

Not thrilled with the photos I took during Light-Up Night. First of all, I didn’t actually go into town, as it was too cold and I wasn’t dressed for it. Second, I took about 500 pics and about 99% were either ehh or bleahhh. Been thinking about taking some photography classes and I think I…

That’s how I feel watching Penn State dismantle Michigan State to win the Big Ten title. On top of that I just got to enjoy watching Syracuse–Syracuse–beat Notre Dame. In South Bend. The funniest part was when the Irish offense took the field and announcer Tom Hammond said, “Here comes Jimmy Clausen…this is a moment…
