NoNoNoNo; or, This is a Promise, Not a Threat

Saturday is November 1st, which kicks off National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo). The idea behind NaNoWriMo is that you churn out a 50,000 word novel during the 30 days November hath. Once again, I won’t be participating. I tried it a couple of times, but the idea of having to crank out a few thousand words a day freezes me up. My internal editor gets all up in my face and I choke.

I haven’t been posting much here lately and it’s really been bothering me. I start something and then halfway through I decide no one would want to read it and it disappears into the void. So this November I will instead be be participating in NaBloPoMo, or National…wait…I can get this…National Blog Posting Month? Ha, got it! Yes, every day during the month of November I will post SOMETHING on these pages.

But not just “something”. Oh no! In addition to writing at least one post every day in November, I will post at least one photo every day. And not just a shot of my cat snoozing (OK, I’ll limit myself to one). I will post at least one picture every day that is at least a clumsy attempt at being creative. And every picture I post will be taken on that day–no digging through old folders to find a shot I never uploaded to Flickr. Though I have been going through my folders from Costa Rica and Vietnam and Vegas and finding stuff that might make its way into my daily posts.

OK, I’m just gonna post this before I chicken out and renege.

Don’t worry about “readability.” Just write. We come back here for a reason.
